Bus Driver (Multiple Openings)

  • Locations and Number of Openings
    • Center 2 (Superior, WI)- 2 (full time) positions
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • The driver position would be operating a school bus with up to 28 passengers (children ages 3-5), with a bus monitor. The children are safely secured with a 5 point harness system; Safely run a fixed route, with the responsibility for the safety of the children, stopping at railroad crossings and performing other specialized driving maneuvers.
    • Never leaves a child unsupervised on the bus.
    • Administer basic first aid in case of an injury;
    • Handles emergency situations, including vehicle evacuation procedures, directs the bus monitor on how to assist;
    • Operate any special equipment, such as wheelchair lifts, assistance devices or special occupant restraints;
    • Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks of the vehicle and immediately reports any problems to supervisor;
    • Maintain accurate records as necessary and submits in a timely manner;
    • Ensures vehicle is clean, uncluttered and free of obstructions on the floors, aisles and seats according to sanitation policy;
    • Monitors bus monitor assigned to their vehicle; Conducts 3 vehicle evacuations per year;
    • Conducts a pre-trip inspection every day and reports suspected mechanical problems at once;
    • Conducts a thorough post-trip inspection for children or other items left on board and any vehicle problems;
    • Immediately reports incidents, accidents, or unusual situations that could or did place a child at risk of injury;
    • Reports any significant safety hazards (routes, roadways, changing weather conditions, etc.) to supervisor as soon as possible;
    • Follows procedures regarding child transfer policy;
    • Courteous and professional with children, parents and staff.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Rate of pay:
    • $10.27 per hour

Family Support Specialist (Multiple Openings)

  • Locations and Number of Openings
    • Center 2 (Superior, WI)- 1 (full time)
    • Center 7 (Ashland, WI)- 1 (full time)
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Engages in mutually respectful goal-oriented partnerships with families to promote parent-child relationships and family well-being.
    • Support families’ safety, health, financial stability, life goals, and aspirations
    • Support families in developing goals through the use of research proven strategies such as motivational interviewing, routines based interviewing or family mapping;
    • Conducts home visits with families to support goal development and implementation;
    • Supports families in using community resources that enhance family well-being and children’s learning and development;
    • Organize and facilitate parenting classes using the STEP parenting curriculum at minimum two times per year;
    • Recruits and enrolls families;
    • Responsible for collecting and entering family engagement data into COPA;
    • Plan and develop, with the families, an individualized program for the family through a caring professional relationship and a climate of mutual trust and respect for the families;
    • Maintains all record keeping forms and report information according to agency plans and procedures;
    • Provides assistance to families to increase competency in the areas of positive parent child interaction, safety, nutrition, literacy, child growth, and development;
    • Participates in training, staff meetings, conferences, and similar activities that promotes development of the program;
    • Case management including analyzing and aggregating data.
    • Participates in annual program review;
    • Support teachers and parents to ensure that each child receives all appropriate screenings, assessments, and referrals and follow up to meet the Head Start requirements for medical, dental education, nutrition, social emotional, and mental health.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
  • Rate of pay:
    • $15.39 per hour

Teacher Assistants (Multiple Openings)

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Collaborates with the teacher on the progress of the children; supervises individual/small groups of children at an activity and assists with skill development to encourage learning concepts; plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids; encourages and supports; sanitation of tables and toys; bus monitoring is also part of this position.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Applicant must have a minimum of a child development associate credential (CDA) or an associate of arts degree in early childhood education or related.
  • Rate of pay:
    • $10.32/hour with a CDA; $11.19/hour with AA
