Income Eligibility
Why we require income documentation:
All families are encouraged to apply for Head Start programing. During your application interview, you will be asked to provided income documents. These will determine if your family is Income Eligible or Over Income with addition concerns.
Income Eligible Families will be selected before any slots are offered to over income families.
Income Documents
Social Security Income (SSI) Letter
SNAP, FoodShare or EBT Benefit Letter
TANF Document
Foster Care or Kinship Documentation
Tax Statement: W2, 1099 or 1040
12 months of Income: Paystubs/Employer Statement
Poverty Guidelines & Income Eligible
Head Start enrollment prioritizes families in poverty according to the Federal Poverty guidelines and identified through the use of benefits including FoodSHare, SSI, TANIF, Children in Foster Care and/or Kinship.
Over Income
Head Start recognizes that there are many additional concerns that may impact families who then would benefit from participating in Head Start programing. After all income eligible families are served, addition slots may be offered to families identified from the Over Income waiting list.
